PTO — Hourly Employees

This topic covers vacation time and pay information for hourly employees. Read it alongside the Benefits content in L14 for the complete picture of your compensation package.

Pay Schedule

  • Cassano’s hourly employees are paid weekly
  • Paychecks are issued 9 days after each payroll week ends
  • The payroll week runs Thursday through Wednesday (closing time)
  • Example: a payroll week ending Wednesday is paid the following Friday

Keep this in mind when budgeting — there is a lag between when you work and when you receive payment. After your first paycheck, the schedule is consistent.

Vacation Time

Paid vacation time is available to hourly employees under the following conditions:

Eligibility:

  • Available after one full year of continuous employment
  • There is no partial-year proration — you must complete the full year

How to Request Vacation:

  1. Fill out a Vacation Request Form — available from your manager
  2. Submit the completed form to your direct supervisor at least 30 days before the requested dates
  3. Wait for written confirmation of approval before making plans that depend on the time off
  4. Requests submitted with less than 30 days notice may not be approved due to scheduling needs
30-Day Notice Is a Hard Requirement

Last-minute vacation requests put your teammates in a difficult position and may not be approved regardless of circumstances. Plan ahead.

Vacation is not a substitute for calling off sick. If you are sick, follow the call-off procedure in L26. Using vacation for same-day illness is not how the policy is intended to work and must be approved by your manager.

Holidays

Cassano’s observes the following holidays by closing:

  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

These closures are unpaid — they are not paid holidays. Employees do not receive holiday pay for Thanksgiving or Christmas. This is the company’s way of ensuring everyone has time with their family on those days.
